What a storm

So, yesterday was a really nice, warm sunny day. I got to ride my cycle in to school, and went in early to get Kai to orchestra practice.

As the day progressed, it got really humid. The forecast called for a 40% chance of rain.

I stopped at the Broen Home to visit mom for a short time after school, then went home for supper. While at home, it rained like crazy, with a lot of wind. It must have rained an inch or so by suppertime.

Kai and I went into town at 6:30 for his orchestra concert. There were tree branches and a few larger limbs strewn about town.

Partway through the concert they made an announcement that bad weather was on its way into town, and that we should move to safe parts of the school if it progresses.

They finished the concert, but by then the skies had opened and it was absolutely pouring buckets of rain. No travel was advised by the police department, so they held us all in the school hallways for about a half hour until it cleared up.

Kai and I drove by NP park on the way home, just to see how it was holding up. The park was filled with water, and the water level was nearing street level! I'd never seen anything like it.

(Here's a picture from the Daily Journal, showing some of the damage.)

I don't know how much rain we got, but it must have been at least 3 inches.
